The snow has already started falling with Arctic air entrenched in southern New England. It’s cold!! Currently I’m looking out at my backyard where the temperatures is 15 degrees.
Light snow will linger all day followed by a heavier thump of snow after dark. The track of the low has shifted northwest over the past 24 hours. This introduces warmer air into the state aloft and may even argue for a change to rain south and east of I-84 by late tonight. Generally 3″-6″ is expected along the shoreline with 6″-10″ across the northern half of the state with the heaviest totals in the Litchfield Hills. Hartford should pick up around 6″ while New Haven manages about 4″. Sleet and freezing rain will mix in from south to north as the atmosphere warms.
