A serious flash flood event has developed in eastern Connecticut from an incredible zone of rain that has basically stalled over the last few hours. While flash flooding can be very difficult to forecast ahead of time – I’m very surprised by this. The ingredients didn’t seem there this morning and computer guidance showed very little rainfall (in fact not even any measurable!!!) in this region for the afternoon.
Regardless of how poorly forecast this was the rain train continues to batter eastern Connecticut. Here’s a look at dual pol estimated rainfall totals from Boston’s radar as of 3:30 this afternoon – nearly 6″ of rain near Franklin!
Stay safe – and don’t drive through flooded roadways today!
