Scorching Heat – All Time Records in Jeopardy

Last year on July 6 the Hartford area tied their all-time record of 102 degrees. We may do it again today and could conceivably get even warmer.

This morning at 8 a.m. the temperature at BDL was 87 compared to 85 degrees at the same time on July 6, 2010. Today 850mb temperatures are sky high between 22c and 24c and a gusty westerly and northwesterly wind will downslope off the Litchfield Hills into the valleys and lead to additional warming.

I would not be surprised if the greater Hartford area had their hottest day on record today. The good news is that during the hottest portion of the day we will mix down some drier air from aloft so dew points in the 70s will fall into the mid 60s.
