Cold and Snowy

Fresh snow does it every time. With clear skies and calm winds radiational cooling is leading to very cold temperatures. -5º in Windsor Locks makes this the coldest morning since January 29, 2005!

Windsor Locks has picked up 33.9″ of snow this month which makes it the 8th snowiest month on record and 5th snowiest January on record. With snow in the forecast over the next week this number is only expected to grow.

In Bridgeport the 16.0″ snow total from Wednesday made this storm the 4th largest on record. The snow depth following the storm of 19″ was only bested twice on February 12, 1994 and January 10, 1996 (20″ on both days).

  1. The 6.1″ BDL has listed for January 8th is wrong in so many ways I don’t even know where to begin. In reality they only had 0.5 to maybe 1.o” that day so the 33.9 should really be 28.5 or so.

  2. Ryan,

I’ve been looking into getting a new weather station — a good quality one with features that include dew point along with temp, wind, rain, pressure, etc. Any suggestions as to which brands are best — or are there any specific stations that you would recommend? Thanks so much, I really appreciate it!
