  1. Ryan, something seems wrong with your top 10 snowfall reports. When I lived in Hartford in the 1950’s, there were twin blizzards in a March period. I would guess that it was around 1956. We had snow to the second floor of our house on Bates Street, and I have pix to prove it. We were out of school for a solid week.
I don’t see that at all on your great snowfall total lists.

    • Thanks for the comment. I’d love to see the pictures if you could scan them and send them to me!

As for the storm there was a big snowstorm March 18-20 1956 but the official measurement in Hartford was only 14″. That said in the 8 days prior there were two other snowstorms both with about 6″ of snow. The total snow for the month was 43.3″ which I believe is the second snowiest month on record.

  2. Im wondering if this measurment in North Haven is accurate. It seemed to high to me. Also I had heard from another media outlet that It was the biggest storm in a 24 hr. period an a new record. But from what I understand that total was from a public observor. How do we know he measured correctly? If he did”nt then its not a record. I thought records could only be taken at official airport locations.
